Foodsterbox - part 3

Third foodsterbox was delivered, thank you Mr.mailman!!

Now what do we have in this edition?:

  • A jar of organic Bergamot honey, 250gr. Eh, for sore throats and stuff.....Sorry, I'm not a big fan of honey but maybe I can use it to sweeten a sauce.
  • A jar of 'Sel d'Alae', Hawain red salt, 60gr. Sundried salt mixed with some purfied red Hawaiian clay giving it it's red colour and delicate taste. Ideal for grilled meats and to add some colour to your dishes
  • A jar of aroma caviar, a kind of jelly pearl with rose petals aroma used mainly for decoration
  • A jar of lemon curd. A tangy, sweet cream that can be used to put on a cake or just be eaten straight from the jar with a spoon
  • A tube of mustard 'violette de Brive' made from raisin must. Pairs well with all black pudding/morcilla sausage.

Thank you Foodsterbox and see you next month for more yummy goodies!

    Enjoy,

    Kev

Foodsterbox 2

New month and a new arrival of a foodsterbox, my second and allmost the last one. What did I get this time?? Let's see:

  1. A small box of Cuberdons or 'neuzekes', a popular Belgian candy originating from Ghent and originally made with wraspberry flavour. A good quality.....vanished in seconds...
  2. A bottle of original Belgian ketchup, 'Brussels Ketjep'.
  3. A jar of 'sucre a chouquettes', sugar in pearls. Used for as decoration for pastries, breads and more.
  4. A 'Supersec' box with ingredients to make  a potatoe mash with Cèpes mushrooms. Just add milk, butter and some parmesan and you should have a tasty, velvety mousseline. I'm quite curious about this one, will keep you informed. Supersec is an online shop offering all kinds of mushrooms in dried form. Nice concept!
  5. Another trip down to memory lane, a bottle of syrup with 'pomme d'amour'-'candied apple' flavour. Carnival food in a bottle.
  6. Finally a jar of tomato sauce 'a l'ancienne'. Pure concentrated sugo without food preservatives. Will go great with some fresh pasta.
Nice box again, though the first one had me a tad more excited but I'm surely looking forward to prepare that Cèpes mousseline!!

Enjoy,

Kev

Foodsterbox

I received my first Foodsterbox today in the mail and boy was I happy. I can't remember how I found out about this, in some blog I think, but I immediately liked the idea when I first read about it.

Sign in on their site and after you chose your type of subscription(1x,3x or 6x months)  you'll get your box each following month.

Now I particulary like the idea of getting something in the mail that you like/love but without knowing what it is. It's never the common goods you'll find in your local supermarket but more authentic sought out foodies stuff.
My box had the following:

* A box with 3 different chocolates on a stick to make hot chocolate
* A jar of dried Goji berries
* A jar of kiwi-apricot-pineapple preserve, made in Belgium
* A jar of grilled seeds, nuts, flowers and onions to garnish salads, soups, etc.
* A tube containing 2 vanilla pods - allready took a sniff and the fragrance was pretty intense!!
* A bag containing the ingredients to make a savoury chocolate and pineapple rice pudding. Just needs milk.

Nice idea and can't wait for next month's box!!
